My new diet plan? Nawww...hmm, although??? No just kidding.
The ONE and the only good reason, in my opinion, for moving every 18 months is because you get to binge & purge your stuff! It was a cleansing ritual for me and I LOVED it. I'm an obsessed organizer, so getting rid of stuff and making it all organized (think pretty new clear sterilize container and my trusty label maker) was oh such a happy day! We haven't moved in 6 years so this ritual has not been forced upon me, which is quite unfortunate and sad because quite frankly I'm not motivated to do it on my own. I now know why people cringe and roll their eyes when they say they have to clean out their closets! Ugh! It is the worst! I am entirely unhappy to even begin the project. I think it might be because it really makes my house a HUGE mess. Where as when you move- things you want, things you need and things you have organized are piled on to a moving truck and taken away to your new home! Meanwhile, all the old stuff is dumped in the trash or taken to Goodwill! Such a nice, neat way to binge & purge. Without a moving truck to go to, my house or my garage takes its role and frankly my house looks like the city dump!! It is frightening! I seem to take on this project at the busiest time of year...I just can't help it...I NEED to be organized so all my upcoming projects go a lot more smoothly, right? Justification...yeah I know!
Another positive thing that comes from this crazy ritual is an inventory of our household items. I really see where I have too much of something and nothing of something else! For instance, I just started with the kids cupboard (where they keep all their projects and supplies) and I found over 150 pencils and almost 30 erasers! What??? Save a tree why don't we? They aren't going to need pencils for years! I can just see it...me sending Breck off to college with the pencils from the Binge & Purge of 2008!! Crazy! Anyway, it really give me a better perspective on my shopping & spending habits and with Christmas in the near future that is always a great thing:)
Anyhoo...so it begins... "The Binge & Purge of October 2008." I'm not amused...neither is Vallen- he just rolls his eyes and practices what he learned in football..."high knees Blackburn, high knees!"
Wish me luck!
** Note to self...another reason why you DON"T want a bigger house...lots and lots more bingeing & purging!*** Me like a 1569 sq. foot home more and more each day:)
